Paris Travel Tips – Getting Around Paris

To the great convenience of Parisians and tourists alike, Paris is a city with extremely accessible transportation. Don’t let the lines confuse you! Here’s a guide to everything you need to know about getting around in Paris:

The Metro

The Parisian metro is easy to navigate, and will take you anywhere you need to go in Paris and its suburbs. The RER lines and the tramway lines complement the metro. One ticket is good for any of these as long as you use it within the hour.

Buses

Paris counts with several Bus lines that are very convenient. The bus is also the perfect way to see the city, since you won’t be stuck in the darkness of the underground metro.

Bikes

Parisians love riding bikes, and it is one of the best ways to enjoy the city. Luckily for visitors, the city has a great bike rental system called the Velib. You will see stations all around the city, and it is as easy as subscribing for a very small fee. The first 30 minutes are free, after which you can just change your bike and continue riding.

Scooters

Live out those Parisian movie dreams by renting a scooter. You will avoid traffic and appease the romantic in you. Two great companies for renting are Paris by Scooter and Free-scoot.

Walking

Work all those baguettes off by walking around the city. Go into small streets, and follow hidden paths, take your time to stop and appreciate the beauty of Paris, and as you walk remember that Paris is a moveable feast.
