I Need Spain

Madrid is a magical city filled with adventures waiting to happen!  Here is a list of the ten experiences you don’t want to miss when visiting Madrid.

Art Walk
Madrid’s Golden Triangle is first on our list of Madrid’s must-sees!  It is there you will find three of the most significant museums in the world: The Prado Museum, the Thyssen-Bornemisza Museum and the Reina Sofi.

Royal Palace
When visiting Madrid, don’t miss this palace, containing over 3,400 rooms. Madrid’s Royal Palace is a work of art!  The most luxurious materials were used in constructing this masterpiece, combined with the copious amount of art within, is enough to make each individual lucky enough to see it swoon.

La Gran Via
With over 100 years of history, this area is one of Madrid’s greatest symbols.  Walk the avenue to get a taste of the past and present all rolled into one.  Make sure not to miss out on the amazing shops and restaurants this avenue has to offer!

Santago Bernabeu Stadium
Whether you are a sports fan or not, this imposing stadium has to make it on to your list of Madrid’s must-sees.  Don’t have time to catch a game?  Take the tour to explore every nook and cranny of the stadium including the trophy and changing rooms!

Plaza Mayor
At the center of the historical Madrid de los Austrias, this square is a timeless beauty.  Sit in one of the restaurants and enjoy the view and atmosphere with some Spanish wine.

Puerta del Sol
This Madrid must-see is considered the heart of the city, where all the major roads converge into one area.  The shops and restaurants are plentiful but the architecture and sculptures take the cake in this thriving area.

Plaza Monumental de las Ventas
You can’t think of visiting Madrid and not think of bull riding.  And this famous bullring is where the best of the best riders come to make their dreams a reality.  If you have the opportunity to attend an event, don’t miss out on the culture and history played out right in front of your eyes.

El Rastro
One of the oldest and most popular markets in Madrid, El Rasto provides visitors with a chance to find numerous treasures throughout its stalls.  Whether you are looking for something specific or are just window shopping, this symbolic market is for everyone.

Parque de El Retiro
Known as the green lung of the city, this Madrid must-see is a picturesque park and a great way to spend an afternoon.  With several different walking areas, places to picnic and boating on the lake, you can’t go wrong with a visit!

Madrid Rio
Located parallel to the Manzanares River, this Madrid must-see is an oasis in the city.  Escape for bit to walk along the river and enjoy the peace and quiet, not to mention the views!

Saying there are only 10 Madrid must-sees is like saying there are only ten places in the world you have to visit- not even close to being accurate.  But most of us don’t have unlimited vacation time, so if you must limit yourself when visiting Madrid, make sure these are the places you see!
